Colleen Bills - Director
Colleen has been the Owner and Director of Hot Shot Dance Studio for over 40 years. During this time, she has built a dance program that includes performing teams in jazz, ballet, tap, tumbling, technique, and hip hop.
Under Colleen’s direction, the Hot Shots have traveled and competed in many states, including New York, California, Idaho, Florida, Colorado, and Nevada. Her students have won numerous awards, including Performer of the Year, Solo-Duet-Trio and Team High-Point awards, Sweepstakes of the Year, National Champions and Grand National Champions.
In 2000 Colleen was awarded Utah’s Dance Director of the Year. During the same year, her team won the Grand National title in Florida. Hot Shots Dance Studio has since gone on to win the title 4 more times. She has trained hundreds of students and worked with many wonderful instructors. She loves sharing The Nutcracker with the community annually.
Colleen’s dancers have been awarded scholarships at local colleges, and many have had successful dance careers. Colleen is the mother of 3 children, and grandmother to 6 grandchildren that she loves spending time with.
Natalie Francis
Natalie Bills Francis started dancing at age 2, and has been dancing and teaching ever since. She is a product of Hot Shots Dance Studio in Pleasant Grove, UT where she has been teaching for over 15 years. She is a well rounded dancer, specializing in Jazz, Lyrical, Ballet, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Tumbling. She participated in many different competitions during high school, where she won “Utah Performer of the Year” in 2001 and scholarships from NYCDA, Dance Utah, LA Dance Magic, Odyssey, Pulse, Austin Ballet, and Dance Fever Utah. She was a part of the Orchesis dance company at Pleasant Grove High School where she choreographed multiple numbers and served as president during her senior year. After high school, Natalie performed with the UVSC Dance Team for 1 year, and in the Bart Rockett Variety show in Branson Missouri. She spent 5 years dancing for Rick Robinson’s Origins/Vibe professional company. She has been in multiple commercials and infomercials over the years. She has also judged several dance competitions around the U.S. She has won many teaching awards including high point, best choreography, best costume, most creative and “best of show” awards. Natalie has a deep passion for teaching and choreographing for young dancers. She wants to give all of her students the same love for dance that she has always had.
Ashley Chadburn
Ashley Chadburn has been a part of the Hot Shots family since she joined our studio at age 12 and is now in her 15th year of teaching. She competed with Sr. Company through Jr. High and High school and in 2002 was the sugar plum fairy in the very first annual Hot Shots Nutcracker and has since enjoyed performing as a teacher in many recent productions. After high school, Ashley was awarded numerous ballet scholarships and continued her dance training and education at Utah Valley University. Through out her years of college, she participated in performances at the American College Dance Festival Association, choreographed and performed with Synergy Dance Company and Jacqueline's School of Ballet. She has taught all ages from beginner to advanced and all genres including jazz, tap, tumbling, and of course ballet which is her favorite! At Hot Shots, she has been in charge of many competing teams as well as choreographed for the spring concerts and the annual Nutcracker Ballet. Ashley loves to make her students laugh, but more importantly she inspires them to work hard pushing them to be their best and share in her love of dance. She currently lives in South Jordan with her husband, daughter, son, and two dogs.
Cassie Kosterlitz
Cassie Kosterlitz grew up in South Jordan, Utah. She trained at Hot Shots Dance Studio for 16 years. She was a member of Hot Shots Dance Studio Sr. Company from when she was in jr. high school until until she graduated from high school. She was the recipient of many awards and scholarships from NYCDA, JUMP, LA Dance Magic, Tremaine, Dance Fever and others. She performed in many of Hot Shots Dance Studio's annual Nutcrackers soloists such as Clara and Sugar Plum Fairy! Cassie has kept her dance career active by performing with Radio Disney and being a dancer for TV commercials including Macey's grocery store. For Cassie, her true passion lies with teaching. She absolutely loves children and finds their love and passion for dance as her inspiration. She has been teaching for 9 years. She teaches many genres including ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, and tumbling.
Ryan Hatch
Ryan Hatch is from Lehi, Utah. He trained at Hot Shots Dance Studio from the age of 8 to 18 and loved every minute of it. He has earned multiple scholarships and awards from Tremaine, JUMP, Adrenaline, 24Seven and NYCDA while on competition teams with Hot Shots Dance Studio. He also was on Lehi High School Dance Company for three years and served as the president and choreographer. He was the male soloist in Gerald Arpino’s Birthday Variations in 2017, George Balanchine’s Valse Fantasie in 2018. In 2019 he had the opportunity to perform soloist roles in Martha Graham’s Dark Meadows, Gerald Arpino’s Reflections, and George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht Ballet. He also has performed in the Nutcracker Ballet at both Hot Shots Dance Studio and Ballet West. He was also chosen to be in the Honors Class at Regional Dance America National Festival (2017) and Regional Dance America Pacific Festival (2018). He is currently a senior at Brigham Young University and just completed his 4th year with BYU Theatre Ballet. He is also serving as the current Theatre Ballet President. He teaches ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, hip hop, and tumbling. He loves teaching, choreographing and performing.
Alexis Olson
Alexis Olson is 20 years old. She started dancing at Hot Shots when she was 4 years old. She has competed at many competitions locally and nationally, and has won many scholarships and awards throughout her life as a dancer. She graduated from Mountain View High School in 2015, and spent last year in the dance program at Utah Valley University on Synergy Dance Company. She has been teaching at Hot Shots for 5 years now. She specializes in jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and tumbling. Dance has always been a passion of hers, and she loves that she gets to share it with others every day. She is currently attending Taylor Andrews Academy pursuing her license in Cosmetology. She is so excited to be teaching at Hot Shots Dance Studio!
Rachel McMurtrey
At the age of six, Rachel McMurtrey's mom put her in ballet to teach her discipline and love for music and the arts. She danced at Utah Regional Ballet and performed in the Nutcracker each year. She fell in love with the flawless beauty of ballet and soon realized with strong ballet technique, the sky was the limit and ballet was the core and center of all dance. She wanted to venture out to other forms of dance. She then started dancing at The Dance Club and performed with her high school dance company where her team took nationals for two years. She always kept her foot in the the ballet door and continued to dance with Rocky Mountain Ballet and BYU Youth Artists. She enjoyed flying to NYC and taking ballet classes in the summer. After High School, she got a scholarship to dance at UVU for a few years and was president of the dance team there where they took nationals two years in their division. She enjoyed teaching at Hot Shots Dance Studio, The Dance Club, Elite Academy and Wasatch Ballet. She then transferred to BYU and enjoyed the dance program and taking classes with Theatre Ballet. Shortly after getting married, she moved to Florida to start a business. In Florida, she enjoyed taking classes with the Disney cruise ship performers as well as dancing and teaching at some competition studios, as well as Central Florida Ballet. She loves dance, and she loves to teach dance. She is so thankful for the opportunity to pass on her passion and love for the art of ballet, movement and dance. Rachel is happy to be back teaching at Hot Shots Dance Studio.
Kallie Hatch
Kallie Hatch is from Lehi, Utah. She grew up training at Hot Shots Dance Studio, where she competed in Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Ballet. As well as participated in her studio’s annual Nutcracker every year. In 2014 & 2015 she was the Snow Queen. In 2016 she was the Sugar Plum Fairy. In 2017 she was the Waltz Queen. She has won many scholarship awards from dance conventions such as, Tremaine, JUMP, LADM, and 24/7. She has also participated in the Ballet West Nutcracker. She has performed in the Utah Jazz halftime show. She was on Lehi Dance Company in high school, where she served as President, Choreographer, and Publicity. She also was the dance sterling scholar at her high school. Kallie has just finished her second year at BYU and has loved being apart of and training with BYU’s Theatre Ballet. In her two years at BYU she has had the opportunity to be in Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, and George Balanchine’s Walpurgisnacht. Kallie loves teaching, choreographing, and performing.
Lea Kosterlitz
I’m Lea Kosterlitz. Growing up i was training in all styles, & grew up dancing at Hot Shots Dance studio. I am currently a professional dancer on Odyssey Dance Theatre. I have done many performances in my dancing career so far such as: being multiples rolls in the Nutcracker. Music videos with Alex Boyé and Ashlund Jade. danced in halftime shows at Jazz games. Touring the country with Tremaine dance convention as a company member. A crew member of Chocolate Factory a local hip hop crew. As well as a performer I am a dance teacher and choreography. I have always loved being on stage and showing my passion for what I love, but also teaching dancers the history and reason dance is such a beautiful art form.
Alyssa Olson
hi my name is alyssa olson. i have danced with hot shots for 16.5 years and have had the opportunity to teach for the past 2 years and i have loved every second of it! i am currently going to school at provo college to study nursing! i love my job and my hot shots family!
